Poetry Writing Tips

PAUSE

You must be calm
You must tame the restlessness some days
And will it to stop.
Will it to consider the stars, the flying dreams, and the open eyed wonder of a child
Observe the cracks on the walls
The smiles that were not there in the yester-year
You must be calm to write
To withdraw from the aching noise of a fast world- the snap of hungry hearts
And remember the first noise your ears tunes to in the early hours of dawn
The first thought you spring to
Then write with a bit of recklessness
Like no one will ever read a word, no one will ever feel your heart
Like no one was with you sprawled on the kitchen floor
Like no one is supposed to understand.
Write like that.
then you will be stroking every heart.
Like magic, like wishes
Selah.

I felt every word in my spirit. Like the deep within it calling to my deep. And then I selah-ed “I will write. With recklessness”.
Thanks Debby Keys. You wield words like magic.
